A warm spring kickoff in Prince Edward Island has given the tulips in Belfast a boost this season. Nathan Coleman visits the UPICK farm to discover all there is to know about these vibrant flowers.
Early above-zero temperatures in Belfast, P.E.I., have ushered in an earlier blooming season at Belfast Tulips UPICK.
Visitors can explore four and a half acres of vibrant tulip fields, perfect for both picking and capturing memorable selfies with various props scattered throughout the area.
Tulips go through three distinct stages: the initial bud formation, the early flowering stage, and the full bloom. For those picking tulips, it is recommended to select a variety of these stages.

“You can store them in your fridge in a cool place and take bouquets out as the others start to age,” Trisha Viaenem, who does the marketing for the family-owned operation, advises.
Since the UPICK opened in 2020, the number of tulips grown has steadily increased, with millions now planted across the four and a half acres. This growth not only enhances the beauty of the landscape but also provides a wonderful experience for visitors looking to enjoy the vibrant colours of spring.
