Flooding concerns remain on the East Coast as soggy storm lingers
An impactful Atlantic Canada storm will begin to ease off Sunday in the Maritimes after flooding prompted local states of emergency in parts of Nova Scotia. The focus of the remaining precipitation will be on Newfoundland
A rough holiday weekend continues for Atlantic Canada as a stagnant pattern brings widespread, heavy rainfall to the region, leading to extreme flooding in parts of Cape Breton, N.S.
Local states of emergency are in effect for Inverness, Richmond and Victoria counties as the region deals with the fallout from very heavy rainfall and gusty winds over the past couple of days. There are reports of 250 mm of rainfall in some spots as of Saturday evening.

Most of the rainfall still to come will be found in Newfoundland, with some central areas in line to see 20-30 mm of accumulation through Monday.
Wet, windy weekend continues for parts of the East Coast
An axis of steady rain sits over central and northern Newfoundland while rain eases across the southern section of the island.
Showers situated in the Maritimes will linger in P.E.I. and central Nova Scotia.
The good news for the Cape Breton counties under states of emergency is that the worst of the rainfall is over, but showers will continue on Sunday and Monday.
On Monday, isolated showers will linger over parts of P.E.I. and Cape Breton.
Additional rainfall totals will be in the 10-15 mm range for parts of New Brunswick, north-central and eastern Nova Scotia, as well as P.E.I. However, amounts will be more localized than over the past few days.
Folks in Newfoundland may see 5-30 mm of additional accumulation, with 20-30 mm expected in central and northeastern areas, by the time the rain ends Monday, from west to east.
On Monday, a non-severe thunderstorm risk with scattered showers will be present for southeastern portions of the island, including in the Avalon, as the centre of the low passes.
Gusty, northeasterly winds will be prevalent Sunday afternoon over Newfoundland before easing overnight.
