
Helpful Sunday rains bring relief and storm threat to parts of the East Coast
The weekend will end off on a wet, dreary and potentially stormy note across Atlantic Canada as much-needed rainfall pushes in with a new system headed across the region
A soggy and stormy start to the weekend across parts of the Maritimes will continue on Sunday as an active pattern continues over the region.
Beneficial rains are on the way for many areas that haven’t seen much precipitation in the past couple of weeks.

As well, there will be the risk of thunderstorms in Nova Scotia, southern New Brunswick and P.E.I. on Sunday, so they could boost rainfall totals for some areas.

Soggy, potentially stormy Sunday on tap for parts of Atlantic Canada
A new area of low pressure will develop along the cold front, tapping into additional moisture to bring widespread rainfall to the region heading into the day Sunday.
The threat for thunderstorms will shift into Nova Scotia, southern New Brunswick and much of P.E.I., bringing the threat for heavy rainfall—especially to coastal communities and the southwestern corner of the province.

Widespread rainfall totals on the order of 5-15 mm are expected across much of Atlantic Canada, with the greatest totals across New Brunswick, coastal Nova Scotia, as well as southern and western Newfoundland.
Humidity will linger across Nova Scotia and Newfoundland despite cooler temperatures arriving behind the frontal system.
We’ll see rain push into Newfoundland for the day Monday, with temperatures trending toward seasonal soon after.

Rain should clear out of Atlantic Canada by Tuesday morning.
Another system over the Atlantic could bring more rain during the middle of this week to Nova Scotia and southern Newfoundland. There is low confidence in the track, but it is a system to watch. Otherwise, a mostly dry week across the rest of the region.
