Temperatures surge ahead of Thursday's thunderstorm threat

Temperatures are forecast to reach the low to high teens in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and surrounding areas on Thursday, while Windsor may even hit the 20-degree mark. However, a sharp cooldown is expected, with temperatures dropping 15-20°C by Friday morning.

Rain is likely to arrive in the GTA, Niagara, and Snowbelt regions Thursday afternoon, followed by potential thunderstorms by 3-4 p.m.

Stronger storms may develop near Niagara and London, with the highest likelihood of severe thunderstorms in Essex County. Risks include lightning, heavy rain, strong winds, and small hail.

From 5 p.m. onwards, storm activity could move into southwestern Ontario from Michigan.

The severity of the storms will depend on their formation location. Storms initiating further north in Michigan may increase the chance of severe weather near Windsor, while those forming further south may track over Lake Erie, reducing the risk.
