
PHOTOS: Severe storms knock down trees, power lines in Ontario
The risk for severe weather will continue through Saturday for parts of the province
A line of severe thunderstorms crossed the border and made a mess in southwestern Ontario on Saturday, blocking streets with downed trees and knocking out power to thousands.
The storms pushed through Windsor around 1:30 to 2:00 p.m. local time, arriving with strong wind gusts and heavy rainfall.

Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) issued a severe thunderstorm warning for the region before the storms arrived.

Thousands of homes and businesses were without power in the immediate aftermath of the storms, including more than 3,200 customers in Windsor and just over 2,000 customers in Sandwich.
A risk for severe thunderstorms will continue across southwestern Ontario through Saturday afternoon. Make sure you keep an eye on the radar—especially if you have outdoor plans—and stay aware of any severe weather watches or warnings issued in your area.
