Back-to-back storms threaten to soak southern Ontario ahead of long weekend
Southern Ontario could see storms through Saturday, with risks of hail, strong winds and heavy rain this Victoria Day long weekend.
If you're hoping for beautiful skies over the Victoria Day holiday weekend, the weather may have other plans for you.
Southern Ontario is expecting a series of thunderstorms beginning Thursday night and lasting through Saturday, with the possibility of large hail, strong wind gusts and heavy downpours.
The first round is likely to form late Thursday as a system from the U.S. Midwest moves toward southwestern Ontario. Storms may flare up along a warm front, bringing thunder, lightning and a chance of severe weather.

The system is anticipated to decrease as it moves toward the Greater Toronto Area overnight, although rain and thunder may continue into early Friday.

More storms are expected to emerge Friday afternoon throughout eastern Ontario, eventually moving into Quebec.
A stronger system is anticipated Friday evening into overnight hours, upping the risk of severe weather across southwestern Ontario. Strong winds and large hail remain the main threats.

Scattered showers and pop-up storms may also persist into Saturday morning, however the weekend won't be a total washout.
Nonetheless, forecasters urge anyone with outdoor plans to be prepared and weather-aware this weekend.
