First two tornadoes of 2025 confirmed in Saskatchewan
Two tornadoes reported in Saskatchewan this month, the first and second of the 2025 season
The Northern Tornadoes Project (NTP) has verified the first two tornadoes of the 2025 season, observed on June 2 south of Cut Knife, Sask., around 50 km west of Battleford.

Both tornadoes were classified as EF-0 landspouts, known for being short-lived and typically weak. They were seen over open fields and caused no damage.
These landspout tornadoes form from rapidly rotating updrafts beneath non-supercell clouds and are commonly observed across the Canadian Prairies.
Tornado season is underway in Canada, with activity typically peaking in July. Saskatchewan historically averages 14.6 tornadoes annually, ranking second among provinces for annual tornado counts.
