Possible tornado hits Quebec amid severe storms

Severe thunderstorms hit portions of southern Quebec on Thursday

A round of severe thunderstorms swept through southern Quebec on Thursday, producing strong winds and large hail—and a possible tornado.

Danville is about 40 kilometres east-southeast of Drummondville.

Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) issued a severe thunderstorm warning as the storm pushed through the region, alerting residents around Drummondville of the potential for strong winds and up to baseball size hail.

Experts will likely survey the damage in the days ahead to determine if a tornado hit the area.

Quebec has only seen one confirmed tornado so far in 2025—an EF-1 that struck the community of Saint-Zénon back in April, marking the province's first tornado in April since 1996.
